NUS extra card

Freshers, in September/October, is traditionally the peak sales period for the NUS extra card. However, more and more institutions are now offering courses that start at different times of the year, meaning students may not benefit from the full 12 months of the NUS extra card.

The NUS extra has a set validity period and the current card will expire on 31 August 2011. Cards cost £10 until 31st August 2011 at the Union's Reception; normally £11 online (with £1.99 for the ISIC upgrade) regardless of what time of the year they are purchased.

Students buying their NUS extra card this month can still benefit, and get back the £11 spent, just by saving a minimum of £1.84 per month until the card runs out.

  • Spend £40 at Amazon on books for your new course and maybe a CD or two = £2 saving (5% off).
  • Kitting yourself out for summer at Superdrug, buying £20 worth of sun cream, hair care, make up and skin products = £2 saving (10% off all purchases)
  • Buy your 16-25 Railcard to save a third off rail travel = £2.86 saving (11% off)

With over 150 discounts now available on the NUS Extra card and thousands more with the ISIC upgrade, students don't need to go out of their way to make savings.
